Halloween in Lahaina
Halloween in Lahaina could be roughly likened to Mardi Gras in New Orleans but without the liquor. Liquor consumption is not allowed on the street and police are everywhere to make sure it is more of a family event. Halloween in Lahaina has become a place to be for many people and has crowds averaging from twenty to thirty thousand people. The event starts off with the Keike Parade of little children in costumes. The adults eventually follow and they are dressed in Halloween costomes or undressed as the case may be. Vendors sell food and Halloween souveniers under the Banyan tree and along Front Street. It is one big party with people visiting from all around the world. Usually the Air Force Band will play for a couple of hours in the courtyard just in back of the Banyan Tree. The last time we were there, they played even though it was raining.
